ALLSWE 2023-24 Scholarship Instructions
We are currently accepting applications
The Association of Latina and Latino Social Work Educators (ALLSWE, 501(c)(3)) is an organization dedicated to recruiting, developing, supporting, and promoting Latinas and Latinos in social work education and research.
This year ALLSWE will grant twelve $1,000 Scholarships to Latinas/Latinos who are currently enrolled in a social work doctoral program, graduate (MSW) program, or undergraduate (BSW) program in the U.S or Puerto Rico. It is anticipated that four students from each program of study category will be named scholarship recipients. If a student applicant is not a current member, they can become a member at a cost of only $15 by completing the membership form online at the ALLSWE website prior to receipt of their award.
Awardees are those Latina/Latino doctoral, graduate, or undergraduate social work students who demonstrate exemplary leadership in the social work context and aspire to a career of excellence. Students lacking documented status are eligible to apply.

Please note: International students who are studying in the U.S. or Puerto Rico are eligible to apply. Prior recipients of an ALLSWE scholarship are NOT eligible to apply.
Instructions on how to apply
Step 1: Application
Complete the online application for the ALLSWE Scholarship (you can find the application here).
Step 2: Student Essay
This essay should carefully describe each of the following areas:
♣ Your future plans in social work education
♣ How the scholarship will address your financial need and be used to further your career goals
♣ How your pursuit of a BSW, MSW, or PhD in social work will enhance social work education (your own or that of the profession)
The essay should be double spaced, font size 12, 1-inch margins, and no more than 2 pages.
Step 3: Letter of Recommendation
One letter of recommendation must be submitted using the online application form. Choose a recommender who knows you well, can attest to your accomplishments in the classroom, and can describe related activities in which you engage that will advance or enhance your BSW, MSW, or doctoral education.

Documents submitted after the deadline will NOT be processed and will be permanently deleted.

Notification of Awards
Notification of Award Recipients of the ALLSWE Scholarship will be notified no later than April 22, 2024.

- Be currently enrolled at an institution of higher education as a student pursuing a doctoral degree, a graduate (MSW), or undergraduate (BSW) degree in a program in the United States or Puerto Rico.
- Be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.
- Have financial need.
- Submit a letter of recommendation.
